Today we go to Germany. There are wonderful parks for children there. The memory of one side trip to a park when our girls were small inspired this problem.

A child’s playground in Munich is a multi-colored solid figure built with cubes. Which figure below could represent the shape of the solid figure when viewed from directly above?
Answer to yesterday’s challenge. 5 x 8 = 40. Clearly Georgette has packed too much! Read the comments for other unique solutions and ways of looking at this.

Ha! Geometry. This was one of my better math subjects. I knew this one. Woo hoo!
Woo-hoo back to you and 3 virtual STARS!
you are just cracking me up. you’re a good teacher, though.
Now isn’t that just like a teacher…to keep that homework coming? ♪Memories♫ Thank you for playing,…’er doing your hw.
I remember being faced with one of these tests at some point in my life. The test actually showed “exploded” views of boxes, and the challenge was to determine the original shape. I wish I could remember now why I was even taking such a test – terrible when our own life starts to fade away. (Or not – maybe I failed miserably and my mind is protecting me from the trauma!)
There are lots of things that have become a blur to me. I never took a test morphing/exploding the shapes! That sounds tough! Please no stress…have a lovely weekend despite the rain.
Oh, no – after last year, we’ll have a good weekend because of the rain! I do remember what that drought was like!
Oh you know I have to love you Georgette when I voluntarily click on something math related. Normally I just call my husband when I have a math thingy I can’t remember. Which means, of course, I can never divorce him.
haha I can take a hint. I do love you back and promise I won’t test our blogging friendship any lonnnnger with these challenges. Tomorrow won’t be about math. Whew! So true about husbands…there’s a long list of what he can do and I can’t that’s simply irreplaceable.
Well, I’ll have to wait to see if I chose the correct answer. Happy Mother’s Day, tomorrow!
Happy Mother’s Day to you, too. I forecast 3 stars in a row! No math tomorrow…I promise.
I think you’d be fun on a road trip.
Happy Mother’s Weekend, Georgette. Take a deep bow whether no one or everyone is looking!
Ahhh…I do like a good road trip. Something tells me you do, too. Blessings to you and your family.
After I clicked on my answer I looked again and realized I’d picked the wrong one – darnit – BUT knew why and which one was the correct one (and I didn’t panic when I was choosing my answer) so can I get half a mark please Ms Sullins?
I like that you didn’t panic. No stress, please. And yes, self-correction is good, rosie. I did set it up so you could vote 2x.
Happy Mother’s Day, Georgette!
Same to you “Mama Duck”.
I adore you but I tank at math; I am happy to skip the assignment!
MJ
haha…you’re excused! Thank you for checking it out.
now give me a spreadsheet and I can make the magic happen .. with a formula
MJ
You sound very good at what you do.
I don’t know how I survived Algebra and all my math subjects. You have a gift my friend and that inspires all of us every time. My son is great with math though and I wish he’ll embrace it with joy and enthusiasm. Love this one, “Seek the wisdom of the ages, but look at the world through the eyes of a child.” Thank you….
I only survived with the help of my father and friends. Isn’t it wonderful to see our children “get it” more easily than we did? I am so thrilled my daughter picked up on it and now teaches it, unafraid.
In my hurry to complete my Math lesson for today, (because I am way, way far behind in reading my favorite blogs, especially the ones from my favorite teacher), I clicked the wrong button!! I knew this one too, darn! Just goes to show you, you should always check your work before turning in your test paper!!! :-O
I’ve got to hand it to you, mama. You are a loyal reader and dedicated student. You’ve got a wedding in just a few weeks, cookies to bake and a fundraiser for your Life group! You’re amazing. Three stars for completing all three! Definitely, teachers need take into consideration what’s going on in a student’s life, too.
