Thank you for hosting again, Theresa. Please visit Theresa whose heart and soul is in TX. I encourage you to click on the Good Fences icon and scroll to her Tuesday post to see a tender photostory on saving a tiny painted bunting.
I can’t help but think of this song when I see these wagon wheels.
Rollin’, rollin’, rollin’.
Rollin’, rollin’, rollin’.
Rawhide!
Hah! Hah!
Keep rollin’, rollin’, rollin’,
Though the streams are swollen,
Keep them dogies rollin’, rawhide.
…
Move ’em out, head ’em up,
Head ’em up, move ’em on.
Move ’em out, head ’em up:
Rawhide.
Cut ’em out, ride ’em in,
Ride ’em in, cut ’em out,
Cut ’em out, ride ’em in:
Rawhide!
This scene below reminded me of rolling an oil drum around the back yard. As kids we would stand on it barefoot and make it roll all over the yard. When the girls were young, I asked my father-in-law if he could get a barrel and he did which we brought to the city house yard. I like to remember the girls balanced themselves and rolled them too, barefoot.
Remember the detailed gate from a couple of weeks ago? If you click on it today, it WILL enlarge for greater clarity.
pretty scenery and ohhh i love that gate!
It’s so nice to see things green and not parched from the summer heat. 🙂 Thank you for stopping by.
I think the white fence with the wagon behind it is my favorite!
I’m not at all surprised you like it best. 🙂
I love the scenic views and the cool gate! What a cool entrance! Gret fence shots, enjoy your day!
Have a wonderful day. I’m enjoying your CO pics.
Super gates- very artistic.
They’re fun to spy.
That gate is outstanding…. and such memories all of this post brought to you!
I kinda just rolled with one round object after another. It was fun to gather pics for the theme.
I like these! The cowboy creativity is so Americana!
That’s it…Americana…I like it. 🙂
Great fences! And I was singing that Rawhide song with you! 🙂
ooo…I hope this ear worm doesn’t follow you all day. Have a great rest of the day. I enjoyed your good fences and churches this morning.
i loved the mill creek cattle gate – and the american flag flying behind it. 🙂 beautiful. the green, sloping field and fence is beautiful, too! thanks, georgette!
Thank you for hosting, Theresa. I look forward to these Thursdays.
Beautiful photos, Georgette. I love the dark fence with the cows and trees off in the distance.
I love how things are greening up now that it’s not so hot. 🙂
My dad would certainly love looking at the old machinery parts, especially the wheels. The song is a nice touch – can hear it in my head!
You know, I enjoyed the chance to look up those words to see how much I could remember or never understood to begin with. 🙂
I enjoyed your post on reflections the other day. Such a coincidence you delved into more detail but my post included a reflection. You left me speechless so I left a “like.”
That is some special kind of gate – wow! I love your memories about the barrel – we did similar things when we were young.
We got as much enjoyment out of that ole barrel as a play structure or swing set. It was fun remembering.
Another memory? I absolutely loved your Montmartre post. It took me back when I was a student in Paris living on Saint Louis en l’Ile.
wonderful fence images Georgette. I do like the detail on that metal fence
Thank you, Felicia. I loved the contrast of your soft and bright colors today.
Oh what a collection of great photos.
Thank you, Karen.
Wonderful fences. I really like the decorative gate.
Thank you, Ida. I enjoyed your study of that interesting gate at your blogspot.
Love the song and all the fences
Did you watch Rawhide where you’re from? 🙂
I would not have noticed the wagon wheels had you not mentioned it. Guess they are safer behind the Good Fence. Thank you for visiting my Seedling Mile Good Fence.
As friendly as every one is, things still have to be locked up at night. 🙂 The funniest thing is a fellow down the road has his bar-be-cue pit chained to a train. No fence.
I enjoyed your post this morning. In its day the seedling mile was probably the road of choice to ride on.
I move the barrel comments – such fun memories! Love the fences – never thought much about then until you started blogging a about them!
There are so many once you start noticing. 🙂
So many great fences here. I especially like the one with the trains and another figurative images. Also enjoyed your post with the old Singer.
Thank you, CJ. btw My cousin’s wife is Brazilian. Her china pattern is called confetti. When I saw your colorful wall in mosaic tile, I immediately thought of her. 🙂
Oh oh….I’m gonna be humming this song all afternoon now. But I must thank you…’cause all morning I was singing “Just a Closer Walk With Thee” and Bud was shaking his head getting tired of me singing. LOL
Lovely fences and gates [By the way, that is when Clint Eastwood was really hot!!]
“Just a Closer Walk With Thee” will be starting off my morning as I drive into the city for class. 🙂 I agree Rowdy Yates was hot and my family and I had a date with him on Friday nights for a long time. Have a great weekend!
I love that Rawhide song! My dad had a wagon like that on our ranch. I love those round bales. Dad’s were always oblong. (I put round bales in my latest book) These pictures bring back such fond memories
Oblong? Interesting shape. My father-in-law stored rectangular bales in his barn when I first married Rick. I hardly see them any more.
Oops! I meant rectangular. Have no idea why I said oblong. That would be an interesting shape for sure. We used to think they looked like shredded wheat cereal when we were kids.
Wow, I LOVE the really American type of gates form you,Georgette♡♡♡ Yes, I enlarged the last sweet gate photos.
Sending Lots of Love and Hugs from Japan, xoxo Miyako*
Thank you, Miyako. And I love your Japanese flowers. Beautiful, simply beautiful.
Mill Creek Cattle Co gate and fence.. awesome! I agree about things being green this year instead of burned up by the sun and lack of rain. It looks like Spring here!
I agree, Pix. It does look like spring. As I was writing “everything has greened up” or something to the effect…I had to double check what I was saying. Yes, things have greened up now that the sun is not hovering in the 100’s. Such pleasant temps from the 60’s to 80’s we’re having. It’s so nice.
ADORE that train gate!!! Wow! And the other fences & gates, and rural scenes are just wonderful. It was fun that you included Rawhide in your post! 🙂
Thanks for stopping by, Marie.
That was a great post by Theresa. More fence loveliness! Only in Texas!
