I can hear the sound of daughter #1’s voice call to grandson #1, “Hey, Buddy.” Grandpa Rick has taken to calling them both just that. When I hear my husband answer the phone and say “Hey, Bud” I know he’s talking to daughter #1. When he answers saying “Hey, Buddy”, I know he’s talking to grandson.
This weekend we are all converging on Dallas for daughter #2 and SIL’s event, the birth of their first son.
I can’t wait to see both our Buds as we haven’t reunited since Thanksgiving of last year. Remember we skyped Christmas? I can’t wait not only for grandson #2’s arrival, but to hear our oldest daughter say “Hey, Bud” back to her dad.
As I have mentioned in previous posts I did not attend another family event this summer, the marriage of nephew to his German bride. My mother, brother and sister did come home with pictures of these “Berlin Buddy Bears” though. So I asked permission to publish their photos. They are pictures of some other buddies that have stood in a circle around the Brandenburg Gate, toured the world and now greet visitors at various hotel, restaurant, museum and embassy entrances.
I can’t wait to share these with “Bud” and “Buddy” this weekend as we wait for baby to arrive.
Wishing you a very happy family reunion this weekend!
Thank you, Lynne. Can’t wait!
How exciting – enjoy!!
Absolutely will do!
It’s always fun to see what artists come up with, especially the different takes they have on the same piece. Enjoy your time with family!
Thank you, W. I love these parades of creatures. Texas has the “cow parade” and this summer in Cincinnati, I was able to take pictures of their adorable and whimsical pigs.
What a glorious weekend you all will have! So exciting to have all your “buds” together to welcome the newest buddy to your clan. 🙂 Just makes me smile all over myself thinking of your joy! The Berlin Buddy Bears are a lot cuter and funnier than that black bear that visited me at my house. I’ll take the “buddy bears” anytime! 😉
Oh my goodness mama, I remember your black bear story. Yes, there are big black bears, there are teddy bears and then there are buddy bears! Thank you for sharing in our joy.
A friend who stopped by my pelican post mentioned she “collects” collections of animals like these. I told her about your pigs, and since then we’ve found hippos. Now, bears! She lives in the Netherlands and travels rather extensively, so perhaps she’ll be able to take her own photos one day.
Have a wonderful trip. For your sake, I’m glad Isaac put on the brakes and didn’t keep trucking to Texas!
Linda, I loved your pelican and still want to make it to Kemah/League City to scope some out. Truly this has been the summer for me to notice these whimsical creatures.
We’ll be driving in the right direction–north–as Isaac spews and sputters what’s left of him. 🙂
the american embassy one was too funny! have a fabulous family visit!!!
haha…glad you enjoyed, TWG. S/He is really green, isn’t s/he?
I can barely bear it! Wonderful post and hope you have as wonderful a weekend. I am glad you will be there to welcome this wee new baby!
Thank you, Chris.
Once again, I feel the excitement building. Travel safely, and enjoy the mini-reunion! I look forward to updates. I also look forward to future stories that I know this baby will inspire you to share. 🙂
Thank you, Lenore. Love your new website…excellent idea!
fun, fun, fun!! sounds so exciting!!
Thank you for visiting, iaap. I’m glad Dianna listed your blog, because I enjoyed visiting it. You have a beautiful “itsallaboutpurple” site! Congratulations on your recognition. The next post (Sunday or Mondayish) will be about our next little “buddy.”:)
Have a wonderful time with your loves; I am sure that Mr. Bear will be a big hit with everyone! 🙂 MJ
MJ, we all will. I can’t wait to show grandson what great-grandma Ellen, Aunt A and Uncle took pictures of while they were in Germany at the wedding.
How fun, Georgette. Have a wonderful time introducing yourself to the new member and reacquainting yourselves with the others.
It’s been a long time and no time like the birth of a new member to bring us together!
This is the first time I’ve seen a Berlin Buddy Bear and I think its really cool. Who can resist hugging it. The Statue of Liberty Buddy Bear is my favorite. I’m always excited to hear about your family events. Always filled with wonderful and loving thoughts. Each family gathering is a celebration of live and love. Best wishes to you and your love ones.
Thank you, IT. It’s been a long time since we were ALL together last Thanksgiving.
Love the Berlin Buddy Bears Georgette! Have a wonderful family reunion and family expansion this weekend!!
Thank you, Carol. I’m glad you enjoyed them.
What an exciting time for you! Thanks for sharing the bears and their story.
I’m glad you enjoyed these. As you said, Patti, the other day, “On the road again.”
You must be so excited about your trip and the birthday of a new grandson! Safe travels to you and yours.
(By the way, did you send me an e-mail? I have one from you with nothing but a link, which I haven’t yet opened.)
Oh no, I didn’t, Dianna, thank you for the heads up. This has never happened. I apologize.
I just talked with 24 hr. Uverse tech who advised me, so I changed pw. I will monitor today. Thank you for your patience.
Cute bears! Hope you have a great reunion and the baby is well!
Thanks, TS. Loved your countryside photos this morning!
Oh how lovely to be having a new baby in the family, hope you enjoy your visit and that all goes well.
Thanks for visiting and commenting on my blog :))
I’ve heard so much about you from Dianna when she has posted previous awards to your blog. Sorry I’m only now dropping in. Your timing on this comment was perfect…we just arrived to Dallas and I imagine it’s very late in your part of the world.
The tip regarding getting rid of pollen stains will stay in my memory bank. The way things work in this world, someone will need to know as soon as I learn about it. Thank you for visiting.
Just now reading this post … has he arrived?! Details please! Loved your blog & the pictures attached and how ‘bud’ & ‘buddy’ have become beloved terms for your hubby! Miss you – love you – let’s get together asap, okay?! XO
Yes, we’ll have to get together asap. He’s beautiful…Dad and Grandpa would call him handsome. 7 lbs. 13 oz, 21″ long! Born at 4:22 pm CST. Only 28″ of pushing…just like his mother, he came very fast! Your timing is perfect. We just got home from the hospital.
YAY! Congrats on the new family member, Georgette!
Awww, thank you, Dianna. Mom, Dad and baby are doing fine. We are blessed.
CONGRATULATIONS! Please give everyone my best love … so happy for you all! Love you & can’t wait to see pictures … kiss that little angel for me & give Aidan a big kiss for me too! Love you!
Will do, Patrice. Have a wonderful Labor Day holiday with your three. Hugs to all! I was so touched by Margie Jo’s fb post.
I saw the cow parade in Australia, but never the buddy bears. Isn’t that timely? I’m thinking teddy bears for the new baby! Yeah!
Yay! One almost things being pregnant is a permanent condition, then finally, he comes! Yes, most assuredly, we are now thinking teddy bears.
Dang! i didn’t see the one in the American Embassy. So cute
Cows, mermaids, bears. It seems everyone has their critter parade. 🙂
