TWG’s post titles “Put a Fence in Front of It” tickle me. Things do take on a different perspective behind or beyond a fence. I came across this photo taken of our girls many Easter Sundays ago and the title “Put Daughters in the Bluebonnets in Front of a Fence” occurred to me. Thanks again, to TWG for hosting this meme one month young on Thursdays.
We spent many an Easter at the farm with my in-laws. After presenting my mother-in-law with an Easter corsage, we would go to church while the roast or ham cooked in the oven. After church we made up the other dishes: green beans, squash, salad, melon (perhaps strawberries) and always black-eyed peas. Some or all of these came from MIL’s winter and spring garden. Before the girls could change clothes for the Easter egg hunt, my husband and father-in-law whisked them away to country roads to spy bluebonnets and other wildflowers to get their picture taken among them. That photo outing and the Easter egg hunt gave us just enough time to get Easter dinner on the table.
Caution: I wrote this post about a year ago. “Bluebonnets, Snakes and Bees – Oh My!”
Cute photo and wonderful memories.
Little girlie girls, bluebonnets, and a fence. Perfection!
LOVE the Texas Bluebonnets. Lady Bird Johnson would be so proud that you shared this beautiful image!!!
Tune in Sunday when I pay a bit of a wildflower tribute to her. We remember her, don’t we?
Good Morning Georegette! Sweet picture of your girls! I would love to stand in a field of bluebonnets. Your Easters at the farm make me smile and take me back to my Granddad’s farm in Harrisonville, Missouri. The FOOD sounds wonderful!
My mother-in-law always sent us home with grocery bags…the paper kind…of veggies from her spring, fall, winter and summer gardens. We were blessed with good eating.
Aw…..such a sweet memory! Love the photo; it’s precious.
Thank you, Dianna.
What a cute photo! The flowers are pretty! Nice memories of Past Easters. Have a happy day!
Oh Georgette, I love this photo. The little one in the front looks so excited. Beautiful photo!
She has always loved the holidays! It’s amazing how you read their personalities from that one photo. I’ve written several posts about the younger one’s festive spirit.
I could see it in her expression. It looked as though her older sister was holding her back…she was about to burst! So sweet!
What a beautiful picture!
I wonder whether you included this lovely photo in the book Fences. It would fit perfectly, even the complementary colors. Happy Easter to you too!
Happy Easter, Marian.
The girls are unutterably cute, and of course the bluebonnets are pure essence-of-Texas. It’s a wonderful photo.
Thank you, Linda. I can feel your pride in those bluebonnets. Like our singing governor W. Lee O’Daniel sang and wrote ♪To beautiful, beautiful Texas,/Where the beautiful bluebonnets grow♪ Beautiful Texas.
such pretty children and lovely in the field of flowers.
Thank you, Margaret.
love it! 🙂 big smiles, cute girls, bluebonnets and a FENCE! 😉
thanks for linking in, georgette!
Glad you caught the fence. (wink) 🙂
Beautiful post that brings out the best and joys if Spring. Hope to see Bluebonnets this weekend. Happy Easter!
Happy Easter, IT.
What a delightful picture. It is so perfect. I used to love those wonderful Easter dinners on the farm.
I was blown away by the food, veggies from the garden my MIL sent home with us. She worked hard on her gardens and I learned squirrels were not her friends. The sweetest woman in the world made no secret about that. 🙂
What a happy picture! 🙂
Thank you, mama. We are festive.
What a great memory, Gerogette!!
hmm…do you mean Memory or memory? Thank you, Kay. (wink)
Sometimes my fingers work faster than my brain! 😉
Terrific way to spend the holiday!
I’ll be cooking a roast minus the homegrown veggies. But the memories will be with us. They’re all grown up now and we will be hiding some Easter eggs for GS out in the yard.
I don’t even notice the fence for the beautiful girls and the lovely flowers. Wow. Really nice Georgette.
haha…you need to click on the photo so it enlarges to really see the fence. There is a fence behind them.
Precious memories of times gone but never forgotten … treasures.
Unlike those bluebonnets that come back every year always blue, those Easter outfits came back every year different. It’s fun to remember the outfits, too.
I do remember reading about the snakes, but it’s a lovely photo. Happy Easter!
Happy Easter, Patti.
Awe sweet memories. Such a beautiful photo!
I loved the colorful fence weaving at your site! I’m sure you have seen those schoolyard fences with messages spelled out around the holidays or special events. They always bring a smile and remind us of “minds at work” inside this building. How neat they reach out to the community like this.
awwww, what an awesome picture, aren’t you glad you didn’t know? it’s hard to notice the fence, with those two adorable kids in front of it!!
Thank you. I’m very glad I didn’t know back then. (chuckling) Yes, you have to click on the photo to enlarge and actually see the barbed wire strung between the posts.
precious little ones in the beautiful blue bonnets… perfect Easter pic
Thank you, MadSnapper. Loved your time progression photostory this morning. Very original, I think.
These were our two Texas girls back in the day not wearing bonnets, but among our blue-bonnets.
