My blogging buddy, Dianna, at These Days of Mine, tagged me last week with this challenge. I haven’t done one of these in a while, and I’m glad to find time to join in.
As Dianna said, “Get comfy, folks; this may take a while.”
The Rules:
1. Post these rules.
2. Post a photo of yourself and eleven random facts about you.
3. Answer the questions given to you in the tagger’s post.
4. Create eleven new questions and tag new people to answer them.
5. Go to their blog/twitter and let them know they have been tagged.

Grandson and me
Eleven facts you may not know about me.
1.) Rick and I eat pizza at least once a week.
2.) I skip breakfast more than I should.
3.) Rectangular, square or round? I prefer to sit at a round table.
4.) When the Girl Scout cookie sheets come around, I’m sure to check off Caramel Delites and Thin Mints.
5.) T-Bob, our cat, has never ventured outside. I can leave a door wide open bringing in the groceries and he just sits looking out.
6.) I enter the HGTV dreamhouse sweepstakes every year. Maybe this will be my year.
7.) Of all the rooms I have sat in, I love sitting in my sister’s sun room.
8.) When we go to the farm, I’m keenly aware of staying clear of recluse spiders.
9.) I love playing Skip-Bo with daughters and grandson.
10.) East or West? I love flying East, and driving out west.
11.) North or South? I like to visit up North, and I love living down South.
And here are the eleven questions that Dianna asked me to answer:
1.) What’s a favorite summertime memory from your childhood? Swimming, going to camp and taking family vacations.
2.) You and a close friend have an afternoon to spend together. What are your plans? Find a restaurant we both like, visit and find time to be among the last to leave.
3.) What dish can you prepare without using a recipe? Why, gravy, of course.
4.) What image is on your mouse pad? A drawing my daughter did when she was about 8 that I had transferred to a mouse pad.
5.) Do you have a nickname? George or Georgie. Mom works too, a lot of the time.
6.) What is your favorite way to exercise? Riding a bike.
7.) Do you play a musical instrument? hmmmm…piano, but not as well as my brother
8.) Were you named for someone? If so, whom? my mother’s father
9.) What is your favorite type of music? musicals
10.) When is your birthday (month and day)? June
11.) What’s the closest you’ve ever been to a natural disaster? a tornado…Hurricanes Alicia, Katrina, Rita and Ike
If you’re tagged, these are the questions for you to answer. I kinda like several of the questions Dianna had to answer. I’ll keep a few and tweak some others.
1. Did you have a cousin close in age to you?
2. What was the first novel that transported you? (This question was a “keeper”.)
3. Is the work you do to pay the bills a passion or practical? (Another good question.)
4. Do you have a favorite country western song? If so, which is it?
5. If you could (or do) grow a garden would there be flowers or vegetables to fill it? (Another keeper.)
6. What would you like to see in the US that you haven’t seen yet? Or abroad? (I’m always interested in hearing about this one.)
7. Have you ever caught a fish? If so, tell us about it.
8. What’s your favorite breakfast, lunch or dinner meal?
9. Have you been surprised recently? What surprised you? When?
10. What is a state you have never traveled to, but you plan to visit someday?
11. Is there a 2012, 2013 movie you would recommend?
The rules didn’t specify how many bloggers to name to participate in this challenge. I hope you visit them as they always offer their own unique perspective as they come across my reader, and that’s probably why they’re on my blogroll. It’s a lot of fun and you may just meet someone new.
1.) Melissa at Writing for Daisies
2) Jean at The Self-styled Life
3.) Rosie at Wondering Rose
4.) Elyse at fifty-four and a half
5.) Chris at bridgesburning
6.) Sherri at Travel Spirit
7.) Kathy at pocketperspectives
8.) Jean at nolagirlatheart
This is involved, so I realize there may be some who would choose not to play along. So, if you prefer not to, PLEASE don’t feel obligated! And, thankfully, there’s no deadline.
Wonderful, Georgette! I loved your answers and the picture, and am so glad you participated. Have a good Sunday!
I hadn’t done this in a while. (smile) But I do think they are fun and get us to “socialize” in our blogging community.
That’s a great photo of you and your grandson. I presume those are his handprints on his shirt.
It’s interesting the commonalities we share. Caramel Delights and Thin Mints are my choices, too. I’ve also been through Alicia, Katrina (albeit at a distance), Rita and Ike. There are differences, of course. While T-Bob stays inside, Dixie will open the sliding glass door to the patio and let herself out if I don’t lock it. And as for music – my least favorite form is the musical! I often like the music (“Oklahoma”, “South Pacific”, “The Music Man”) but sitting through a musical gives me a headache. 😉
I thought the mouse pad question was the most unique. Mine shows Union Pacific’s venerable steam engine, UP844.
The music question always makes me think…what form do I really like best?…I like so many, but it was musical theater that I first heard in my home growing up, so when taken to task, I go with that. I remember my mother and father going into NYC to catch a show and it was such a treat for us kids to listen to the album they would bring home.
Does Dixie just stay in the patio area? Interesting what cats can do for themselves. T-Bob used to jump to the kitchen sink, lean in on the faucet handle and turn on a fountain…no, he never turned it off. When we would go out of town, I would have to put a kitchen pot over the faucet so we wouldn’t come home to the water running. I say used to as he can’t jump that high anymore, so he meows, and meows until I lift him up. Yes, we keep his bowl fresh. But to open a sliding glass door just enough to get out…that’s convenient.
Grandson would love your mousepad; he’s still crazy about trains. Thank you for visiting. As always, I enjoy the conversation.
Great answers and great questions, Georgette.
Thanks for listing me! And it is a relaxing Sunday of a three day weekend with nothin’ much to do. I’m off to answer!
Thank you for participating. Something tells me you can “tear this up” with humorous queries and answers. I’m glad you have some free time to play along. Looking forward to the post.
sweet pic of you and your blondie grandson. 🙂 i like closing down restaurants, too. good friend. good cup of coffee after the meal…
I’m always amazed that the table seated near us, arrives after we do and leaves before we do. Luxury = time to stay until the conversation dies.
Very interesting list Georgie. I’m so glad you finally shared a photo of yourself. 🙂 You’ve been through all those hurricanes? Gosh.
What a great idea to put one of your daughter’s pictures on your mouse pad.
Unfortunately I don’t have a relaxing Sunday to look forward to – I’m off to work now – and because both the US and Canada are enjoying a three-day weekend the Museum is going to be *busy*. I’m working the photography store and its a popular show so I’m going to be swamped… sigh!
Send good thoughts my way that I meet interesting folks… Last Thursday two women stopped at my Satellite Store to ask me whether the paintings on the walls were *real*? How can you answer that kind of question?
O-M-G–that is the limit. I’ll be thinking of you. I guess you’re working Monday too, being a holiday and all. The folks will be out in droves.
I think I could have pizza and/or girl scout cookies for every meal if I could get away with it!
hmmm…that might explain the dark circles under my eyes…or bad lighting…I choose the latter. 🙂 PS If you have time, jump right in! You are on my blog roll, but refrained from listing you because I know school has you busy, too.
That’s a great picture of you and your grandson. Thanks for reminding me to do this post soon. It’s been a busy week, and I have writing due for our group Tuesday. After that I should have some time. I hope!
I was a bit overwhelmed about a month ago, but was pleasantly surprised I could fold it into my Saturday afternoon. Hope to hear from you. Love your C’s questions series. They’re fun. I’m rather proud of this handsome “l’il dude.”
Aww, what a sweet picture of you and your grandson. I enjoyed reading through your answers and getting to know you better .. although I feel like I know you pretty well already! Funny how blogging does that, hey?
I was tagged by Dianna, too, and will try to carve out some time to do this challenge soon 😉
MJ
It’s been a fun two years. Hope you do it. Dianna always has a way with nudging at the right time, like you did with me with the ’11 Christmas meme — in the end I was glad I did it. I should mention all the hits it got this past Christmas ’12. How do folks find it a year later? Go figure.
These “get togethers” are kind of a blogger’s lunch or night out, I think. Gratefully, I will keep today’s scheduled draft for next Thursday…wheeee…more time. As always, I enjoy the conversation, MJ.
It is always funny/odd to me the posts that get hit months even years later!
wouldn’t it be fun for us to really have lunch and some sweet tea together? Wonder who would talk the most – probably me 🙂
Happy day!
MJ
Are you really a chatterbox? You seem like a listener to me. 🙂
Pizza and Thin Mints – yum! And the tornadoes you’ve come to – Wow! That sounds a bit frightening. It is rare for us to get a tornado here in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains. They sort of shield us, not something I mind at all!
Along the flat rice fields of the gulf coast we are prime for tornadoes at any time of the year.
The other storms are documented and history. We were right there along side neighbors who suffered more or less damage depending on fate.
Did you feel the earthquake last year or year before last? — I believe it was in September right around the time of the Eastern hurricane? Nice to have a mountain chain “shield” you. We are a good 5-6 hours away from the nearest mountain which is more like a hill.
What a wonderful group of questions, Georgette. Sounds like so much fun. I have two other blogs and have neglected wordpress because of my learning disabilites with self hosting or or having Blue host or someon else. how do I go about joining you for these fun questions.
Jump right in! Post a picture of yourself, give 11 facts about yourself that we don’t know, answer my 11, make up 11 and inform folks they are invited to join the party. Do you have a holiday weekend? Seems like a lot of folks have a three day weekend. I don’t (sad face) but I found the time yesterday to get ready. 🙂 (happy face)
I loved learning more about you and the picture with your grandson is great! We have pizza almost once a week as well.
Thank you, Darlene. Pizza is perfect without a lot of fuss. Isn’t it?
Georgette — thank you! And congratulations on being “tagged!” 🙂 I miss you and your blog, too! Time is moving so quickly these days, that it runs through the hourglass day after day before I even stop to glance at it. All good things, I’m happy to report. Thank you so much for letting me know I’d been tagged, I do have every intention to return to blogging, and I look forward to reading your posts again with great enthusiasm! 🙂 It was so fun to see these facts about you, and read all your answers. And what a sweet looking grandson you have! He seems so happy and comfortable with you. 🙂 Take care!
Just want you to know you’re missed and thought of. Happy Valentine’s.
Cute idea … loved learning something new about you, my longtime friend!
Thank you, Patrice. It’s been such a long time. After this week, maybe we can get together.
Love the picture of you and grandson, Georgette. How do you eat pizza once a week and stay so thin? I would eat pizza more often if I looked like you, too!
hmmm…I don’t know. Thankfully, I don’t pay attention to calories. God knew I had other things to think about.
So excited for you that you’re a great aunt. I’m a grandma, but not a great aunt yet.
Love the photo of you and your grandson! Enjoyed learning more about you too. Great questions and answers. 🙂
Fun game. I hadn’t done this in quite a while. Are you playing Dianna’s tag? I tried not to tag anyone she had already.
No, not tagged in this go-round. But I’m enjoying reading the responses. 🙂
Weeee…more time, mama. I know you had a wonderful visit with your chidren.
Wonderful answers, great questions. When the Girl Scouts come around, I usually get Thin Mints and Tagalongs. I then ship some of the boxes to my daughter who’s away at college. My son stops by and helps me eat the rest. Talk about fun in a box!
What a thoughtful care box for your daughter and lucky son who has a mom with GS cookies. Good bribe to come and visit.:) We’re also trying out the Lemonades, Mango Cremes and my husband likes the classic shortbread.
Riding a bike is great exercise. Bet that’s why you’re such a young looking grandmother!
Thank you, Lynne. Please know it’s not a fancy bike with all the gear. Just a ride around the neighborhood kind of bike.
[…] it is a game and not a foot but somehow the old saying seemed apropos. My friend Georgette has tagged me and for this rare moment I am taking on the challenge with great vigor. It’s […]
Vigor did you say? Vigor? I’m glad you’re feeling better.
Okay Georgette – did the first part – have broken it into 2 posts – you know how wordy I am – enjoying this immensely!
Good idea. I do like these “socials” when there’s time. Glad you have the time now and are enjoying it!
[…] my previous post I started playing a challenge sent to me by my friend Georgette Sullins. It has been ages since I have had so much fun! Next comes 11 questions Georgette sent […]
Georgette, your “facts” and answers to the questions really reflect that twinkle in your eye! And thank you so much for passing along the tag…as I mentioned, I seem to be a bit (!!) over-extended…..trying to find a good pace, happy as can be….but going off in so many directions! As soon as I manage to settle this mind and spirit down, I’ll pass the tag along… oh I hope there’s settling down soon….this whole “retirement” thing is like having a new career…wonderful, but lots to learn about pacing, choice, options and directoins!
(wink) There’s no time limit. I hadn’t done one of these in a loooong time, but am rewarded by the visits and new contacts. It kind of stirs things up and yes, even gets me out of my comfort zone. I thank Dianna for the nudge.
[…] few months ago my blogging buddy, Georgette, at Georgette Sullins’s Blog tagged me with a blogging challenge, which came with a set of […]
