So I get up and decide I will wear a new 3/4 sleeve sweater D1 got me for Christmas. I didn’t check on the weather since I hadn’t heard about any more winter vortexes. In fact, it sounded like rain outside…that means the weather is “warming” up. Then I stepped outside. It took me a while to figure out I wasn’t getting wet. Look what’s falling in Houston! Ice…small hail.
Sorry, they’re blurry. I’m off to class. I think I’ll grab my coat, too!
Hail in Houston?? Whoa. Stay safe and hopefully you grabbed that coat and a scarf and mittens while you were at it!
Check – coat. Check – scarf. Check – gloves. ๐
Be safe!
Thanks, there was a wreck on the road holding up traffic. I just wanted to get to class on time. I did with 15″ to spare. ๐
I’m glad you made it home safe, Georgette. If you don’t mind me asking, what class are you taking? ๐
Nice to be home. Now just waiting for husband who went out to the country for more wood. Looking forward to some Winter Olympics by the fire.
I teach Spanish Grammar, Culture and Literature at our local college, Jill. Students had a test today, so I had to be there!
That sounds nice, watching the Winter Olympics by the fire…enjoy! Ah, Spanish…I wish I knew you when I was in college. I did great in high school Spanish, but upper level college Spanish was a struggle…not good memories.
Enjoy the Olympics, I’m excited!
I am too!
The first thing I heard when I turned the radio on this morning was “Hail in the Woodlands.” I guess so! There was a tweet from the NWS in Dickinson that they were seeing sleet, but there’s no evidence of anything here. The wind is up a bit, so even if we got something it could have dried already.
Stay warm!
It was so funny. I dressed a little warmer thinking I was hearing rain. When I went outside to load my crate into the car, I wondered why I wasn’t getting wet and then I noticed “Hey, this is hail pellets, sleet and snow! D2’s school got let out early in Dallas. Wow! There have been a lot of school closures. They have already passed their allowed state days.
a coat and hat and maybe scarf and gloves. oy vey!
We do have them in the closet, Joss. And on days like today, we use ’em.
Brrr….. I don’t do 3/4 length sleeves in the winter, either!
So after my very spontaneous post — I blush at the photos –, changing into my white wool slacks and white knit sweater, filling the gas tank b/c I was on empty, I got to school with only 15″ minutes to spare. They had a test today, so that made prep time easy. What a day!
That’s pea shooter hail.
It was and thankfully didn’t dimple the car.
Stay warm and safe out there, Georgette!
Thank you, mama. I was and still got to school on time, later than I like, but there safe and sound.
we’ve had a very cold winter this season. i’m ready for spring.
Isn’t that the truth?
Stay safe!!
Thank you, Arindam. Your post yesterday was from the heart! Good job.
I hope your students appreciate your dedication to getting to class! You are a real trooper! ๐
I blush at my pictures, Dor, but thank you for getting the idea. We’ve had two snow/ice days before today and quite frankly, this morning saw more than the called off weather days.
They had a test today that had already been postponed due to snow/ice. I had to be there. That’s why I leave an hour ahead even if I only live 20″ away. Today, I got there with “only” 15″ to spare. Whew!
Same thing here in Portland except it’s tons of snow. It just seemed to have come out of nowhere. I tried to go out but only made it a few feet when I saw how backed up the traffic is I decided today is a good computer day. Be safe out there!
Now I really blush. We had a weee little bit compared to what you all get, but still the temps to manufacture the stuff. Brrrr…
We had a little flurry action overnight here in North Texas. Luckily I didn’t have to go anywhere today.
I bet you did. D2 in the Dallas area experienced early closures today.
Any house hunters in this weather? We certainly haven’t.
Nope, not one until Saturday.
Hail? Oh my. My brother (who lived in this area longer than we) always said when the storm comes from Texas, we’re going to get it. Please hang onto it for a few months. Thanks.
Interesting quote.
Looks blustery, Georgette. You sure you couldn’t stay in with a good book while Mother Nature did her business dropping those ice pellets on Houston?
Oh that would have been nice, but had to get on to the college where my students were anxiously awaiting (wink) their first test. 100% attendance on their part.
I see that you live in Houston. Seems weird to have hail there. We got some hail in London this week as well.
It was weird. That had to have been my most spontaneous post with photos shot and posting in about 15″…not my best photos though, blush. Still, what can I say? I got excited and thank you for responding to it. My cousin made a little tiny snowman (the only thing small in TX) that a friend quipped was made with “dippin’ dots.” So true, so true.
Crazy weather this winter everywhere … who would’ve ever thought Houston would have ‘snow’ 3 different days?!
I couldn’t believe last Thursday morning. Perfectly round hail falling through the trees, bouncing off the roof and covering the cars, outdoor grill and patio furniture.
